A retired professor of music, Harry Moon and his wife, Molly, moved to Maine in October of '98.
He was director of choral activities at Morningside College where he taught conducting courses, voice and directed several choral ensembles. Dr. Moon was Music Director and Conductor of the Siouxland Master Chorale/Orchestra, and Choir Master/Precentor at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church in Sioux City, IA.
Before moving to Iowa, Dr. Moon taught sacred music in the Candler School of Theology, Emory University. While in Atlanta, he prepared summer choruses for Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony. He also served as adjudicator for music festivals, and directed his own choral festivals and workshops in several states. As tenor soloist he has performed in recital, oratorio and opera. Harry served as president for Iowa's chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singers, and as member of the Bishop's Commission on Music and Liturgy for the Iowa Diocese of the Episcopal Church.
Dr. Moon earned a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Arts degree from Coe College, a master's degree from the University of Michigan and a doctoral degree in conducting from the University of Iowa. The topic of his doctoral thesis is "Ralph Vaughan Williams' A Sea Symphony: A Conductor's Study and Performance."
Harry served as Interim Choir Master at St. John's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth and is currently Music Director and Conductor of the Community Chorus at South Berwick.
